A wild buffalo stands in a clearing in Komodo National Park. The Park is famous for komodo dragons, which are the largest lizards in the world and can grow as long as three meters and weigh over one hundred kilograms. The powerful dragons, with bacterial saliva that can kill animals once bitten, occasionally prey on wild buffalo. The Park was formed in 1980 primarily to protect these unique creatures and their prey.
