A village in the Bantul region is flattened from the May 27, 2006 earthquake in central Java. A man stands where his bedroom was once located. His wife and children were sleeping there when the earthquake hit, and had to be dug from the rubble. Fortunately, perhaps miraculously, they were not seriously hurt. The earthquake, which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, devastated much of Yogyakarta and south-central Java. Central Java, Indonesia. Image: Danzer_014880.
