Lonely Llama

Homer, the young white llama in the photos below, was found mysteriously wandering the slopes of Pike’s Peak in Colorado. Clearly lonely, occasional sitings by tourists and park rangers saw him trying to make friends with everything from big horned sheep to squirrels. His story became a media sensation and set off a rescue attempt. After several failed efforts to capture him, a couple of local llama rancher wisely used a some fellow llamas to attract the lonely llama. After his rescue, we learned his mother had been killed by a mountain lion on a nearby ranch and he had escaped. The rescuer adopted him and named him Homer, after the Homer of the Odyssey. Enjoy!
